In a bid to clarify ongoing concerns, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has shed light on the construction of the Vice President’s Lodge during the resurfacing and rehabilitation launch in the Asokoro District.
Wike revealed that the project, initially awarded to Julius Berger by the Federal Government in 2010 at a cost of N7 billion, had been left dormant for 13 years.
Emphasizing the responsibility of the FCT Administration to prevent the misuse of taxpayers’ money, Wike stated, “We did not award that contract. We are continuing these projects to avoid abandonment and wastage.”
The Minister urged residents not to be swayed by sentiment and misinformation, emphasizing the government’s commitment to completing vital projects. He called for support from FCT residents, underscoring the administration’s dedication to fulfilling its responsibilities.
“People should not be sentimental and tell lies. We did not award that contract.
“All we are merely doing, because of our policy of not leaving other projects to be abandoned, we felt we should continue with those projects”, he said.
