Doyin Odebowale, the Special Adviser on Special Duty and Strategy to Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu shed light on the decision to dismiss Deputy Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa’s media aides
Governor Akeredolu’s decision to remove his deputy’s media team came as a surprise to many, prompting inquiries into the underlying reasons.
Mr. Odebowale, during an interview on Channels TV monitored by Quest Times, revealed that there was a notable lack of governance during Governor Akeredolu’s absence due to medical treatment.
He pointed out that some people with ambitions to contest the forthcoming Ondo gubernatorial election were causing great distractions within the administration.
According to Mr. Odebowale, only the Governor and his deputy enjoy immunity from certain removal procedures. Others in government positions are subject to the Governor’s authority and can be relieved of their duties at his discretion.

Explaining this, he stated, “Any person appointed by the Governor serves at his pleasure. Whether for good or bad reasons, the Governor has the authority to terminate their employment. These individuals were appointed to fulfill specific roles, and if they failed to discharge their duties adequately, it is within the Governor’s right to request their resignation.”
Furthermore, Mr. Odebowale emphasized that Governor Akeredolu is not interested in engaging in petty politics that have recently dominated the state’s political landscape in his absence. He highlighted instances where some people, who sought to gain power, going as far as repeatedly posting the obituary of the Governor on multiple occasions.
In closing, Mr. Odebowale emphasized the need for a more focused and less distracting political environment, stating, “The Governor cannot tolerate such actions, and it is essential that we allow him to govern effectively without unwarranted distractions.“
