An 18-year-old Chinese fan who breached security to embrace Lionel Messi during Argentina’s recent international friendly against Australia in Beijing has found himself in significant trouble.
On Saturday, the authorities announced that the young fan has been slapped with a 12-month ban from stadiums and has been placed in detention.

During the match, Messi demonstrated his brilliance by netting a breathtaking curler from beyond the penalty box within the opening two minutes. Despite the security measures in place, the fan managed to breach them, not only reaching Messi but also making contact with Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
However, the fan’s actions will not go unpunished, as he is set to face severe consequences for his actions.
The police issued a statement on the matter, saying: “The Chaoyang District Public Security Bureau placed him in administrative detention according to the law, identifying the 18-year-old, surnamed Di, who will not be allowed to enter a stadium for the next 12 months.”
