The number of women eyeing the Edo State Governor position has increased to three, as pediatrician Angela Aburime-Asom throws her hat into the ring.
Aburime-Asom, backed by key figures in the Labour Party (LP), including state chairman Kelly Ogbaloi, has officially entered the race for the party’s gubernatorial ticket. Ogbaloi assured all aspirants of a fair competition.
Addressing the press, the female candidate expressed satisfaction with the warm reception from the LP state executive. She confirmed that her letter of intent was approved, highlighting her optimism about winning the party’s primary election and becoming the flag bearer in the upcoming 2024 state election.
Excited about the support received at the party secretariat, Aburime-Asom believes the LP is a strong contender for next year’s elections.
In her words;
“I am excited with the reception I got at the party secretariat. It shows that the party is the one to beat next year. I have submitted my letter of intent, and hopefully, I will win the primaries and be the party’s flag bearer at the election.”
Hailing from the Edo Central senatorial district, her candidacy adds to the growing anticipation surrounding the region’s potential to produce the next state governor.
