Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has issued a warning to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) regarding the potential expulsion of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.
Wike, a prominent member of the PDP and former Rivers State Governor, worked against the party during the 2023 presidential election and has since been appointed to President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.
Despite allegations of anti-party activities, Fayose advised the PDP against taking action against the former Rivers State governor.
“Some people say fight Wike, expel Wike, sack Wike. I think they do that at their own peril. You see, the first thing in your family even when you have extreme situations, or indifferences, is not to drive away your wife or husband. Wike is a force in the PDP and beyond PDP, a force you cannot ignore,” he said on Channels Television

“Ignore Wike, sack Wike, or fight Wike at your own peril. He is a man of capacity,” he added.
Fayose emphasized the importance of PDP unity and the need to rebuild the party, which came in second place in this year’s presidential election.
He also reiterated his stance that the southern part of Nigeria should produce the president, suggesting it would be unfair for the northern region to do so. Despite his differences with the PDP’s choice of Atiku Abubakar, a candidate from the northern region, for the presidential election, Fayose has no intention of leaving the main opposition party.
“I would never join another political party once I am no longer in the PDP, and I would never become a member of the APC, regardless of whether they are good or bad,” he stated.
Additionally, Fayose refuted reports of him resigning from the PDP.
