Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has raised an alarm amid the escalating insecurity in the state, revealing that an overwhelming majority of the victims affected by the crisis are members of his own administration and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s “Politics Today,” Governor Uzodinma expressed his deep distress over the situation, emphasizing that many of those who had fallen victim to violence and assassinations were affiliated with the APC.
In a startling revelation, Uzodinma asserted that a staggering 90 percent of the individuals killed in the state were members of the APC. He underlined the troubling fact that this form of insecurity appeared to be disproportionately directed at one political party.
He noted that this distressing trend extended beyond mere coincidence, pointing out that even prominent APC members who had actively participated in the last election found themselves facing attacks on their residences. Traditional rulers who sympathized with the APC’s cause were not spared either, as they too became targets of violence.

“I have told the security to tell me the reasons behind it. It is not a coincidence that many people who are being killed are members of my party, APC. A child cries in the night and in the day it is lying lifeless.
“It is not also a coincidence that only lately, prominent members of my party that they participated in the last election – their houses are being attacked. Some traditional rulers that I have sympathy for our party, their party were also being attacked,” he lamented.
Governor Uzodinma did not mince words in his plea to those orchestrating these crimes. He implored them to cease using politics as a pretext for committing acts of violence against innocent individuals. He urged them to recognize that the insecurity in Imo State had political undertones and called upon those responsible to halt their actions.
“I plead with those people who are behind the killings in Imo State, blaming and kidnapping of human beings in Imo state in the name of politics to stop, I said this times without number that the insecurity in Imo state is politically contrived and those who are behind it know themselves,” he said.
“In a few weeks’ time – what we have deployed now, we will soon unravel those behind the killings and insecurity in Imo State,” he said
