Dr. Kingsley Obiora has resumed his role as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) after a recent period of absence.
The Quest Times reported yesterday that Dr. Kingsley Obiora, who oversees economic policy at the CBN, had been detained by the State Security Service (SSS). He had been in custody for four nights as part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of financial mismanagement during the tenure of the former CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele.
However, Dr. Obiora has been released and has resumed his position as the deputy governor of the central bank.
It has come to light that the Jim Obazee-led special panel has been questioning not only the deputy governors of the CBN but also other high-ranking officials of the bank as part of an ongoing audit. Importantly, no allegations of fraud or theft have been made against Dr. Obiora, who had been cooperating with the panel even before his temporary detention.
