It has been a moment of excitement for music lovers as the 16th Headies Award is set to take place on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, United States of America.
As a result, top artists are scheduled to perform at the event. They include Ahmed Ololade, aka Asake; Adedamola Adefolahan, aka Fireboy; Ikuforiji Abdulrahman, aka Oxlade; John Udomboso, aka Young John; and John Ighodaro, professionally known as Johnny Drille.
Nigerian TV host and actress, Osas Ighodaro, along with American actor and TV presenter, Terrence Jenkins, will be hosting the night.
Expressing her excitement as the show host, Osas said, “I am here as an ambassador and lover of the Headies. The Headies has truly been at the forefront of celebrating who we are and pushing us forward, not only in Nigeria but on the world stage.”

Co-host Jenkins also commended the organizers of the show.
It’s worth noting that the previous edition of the show was held at the same venue on Saturday, July 2, 2022. Meanwhile, a nominee’s party was held on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos.
However, the organizers have attracted criticism for taking the show to the US. One fan, Seyi Ajibola, wrote on Instagram, “Hosting an African award show in America is the dumbest thing I have ever seen.” More comments on this include:
“Take the Headies home. These people don’t care about you all,” from Grandp Designs, and “A total waste of resources, and we keep complaining about how our currency keeps losing its value,” by Biola Silva, among many others.
