The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) on Wednesday said President Bola Tinubu is creating a scenario of confusion in his administration with the appointments he has made so far.
National Chairman of IPAC, Yabagi Sani stated this during an interview on Channels Television monitored by QUESTTIMES.
President Tinubu on Tuesday assigned portfolios to the Minister- designates. Who will be sworn in next week Monday.
Wale Edun, a former Commissioner of Finance in Lagos State was named the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.
However, Sani said the appointment of Coordinating Minister is unnecessary as the President already have a Chief of Staff and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
Sani said there is bound to be conflicts in the administration as the appointees will be seeking to assert their influence over one another due to ego.
This according to him will negatively affect the performance of the administration.
He said “I expect a hands-on administration from the president. I am sure he will micro-manage issues. What I don’t like is that he has created a scenario of confusion at that level. You have your chief of staff, you have your SGF and you are now appointing Coordinating ministers. Definitely, you are going to have conflicts”.
“People will tend to assert their positions where they are appointed to. That is my only area of concern. We don’t need super-ministers. What we need is a person who can prove excellence and performance”.
“All the ministers are coordinating. They are delegated responsibilities by Mr. President in their ministries. That is how they are coordinating. The only person that can coordinate them is the SGF or the Chief of Staff, who will coordinate what is happening on behalf of the ministers”.
“If you now say this is another SGF and a Minister, you will have a problem and that problem can really work against the performance of this administration because human feelings and ego will always come into play at that level”.
