Former aviation minister Hadi Sirika, along with two others, were recently granted bail by a Federal Capital Territory High Court. Each person had to pay N100 million for their release.
Former minister Hadi Sirika, his daughter Fatima, and Jalal Hamma, along with Al-Duraq Investment Ltd, appeared before Justice Sylvanus Oriji of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Maitama.
They faced charges brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for misusing office funds totaling N2.7 billion.
The allegations suggest that Sirika abused his power as Minister of Aviation by unlawfully awarding contracts to family members and associates.
His arrest by the EFCC in April came after investigations into the failed Nigeria Air project and accusations of financial misconduct during his time as aviation minister.
Prior to his role as minister, Sirika served as a member of the House of Representatives and later as a senator representing Katsina North Senatorial District. He had a political history with the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in 2011.
