Samuel Chukwueze’s brace led Villarreal to a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.
After an own goal from Paul Torres in the 6th minute, Chukwueze scored his first goal in the 39th minute to level the score before VinÃcius Júnior put Madrid back in front in the second half.
Substitute José Morales equalized in the 70th minute before Chukwueze struck the winning goal from long range in the 80th minute.
The defeat was Madrid’s first home loss in the domestic league this season and came four days ahead of their Champions League quarter-final against Chelsea.
Villarreal moved into fifth place, four points behind fourth-placed Real Sociedad. Despite the loss, Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti rested several key players for the Chelsea game, saying his team would make a better showing against them.
