President Bola Tinubu’s college records have come under scrutiny due to a peculiar gender mix-up at Chicago State University (CSU).
The institution’s Registrar, Caleb Westberg, has confirmed that President Tinubu applied to CSU as a male, raising eyebrows and adding another layer of complexity to his educational background.
According to Westberg, CSU issued a letter of admission to a male applicant, Bola Tinubu. This revelation challenges previous assumptions about his academic history.
In a courtroom testimony, Westberg addressed allegations that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had contacted CSU to verify President Tinubu’s attendance at the institution.
Westberg firmly stated, “My statement that Mr. Bola Tinubu graduated from CSU was based on the transcripts in our possession. I have never met Bola Tinubu. I have never seen him. He did not visit our campus. He does not donate money to the school.”
Westberg shed light on the differing perspectives on diplomas in the United States, noting, “In the US, Diplomas are considered merely ceremonial documents. In some other countries, it may be considered more. In the US, more reliance is placed on transcripts and not on Diplomas.”
Furthermore, he emphasized that he did not rely on public records to confirm President Tinubu’s attendance at CSU and was unaware of any FBI inquiry. He also pointed out that the university’s policies had evolved over the years, making data entry errors possible.
Westberg suggested a possible explanation for the gender mix-up, stating, “It was possible that someone assumed Bola to be a female and therefore marked the SouthWest Transcript as such.”
