Chaos unfolded at Brass Local Government Area, Bayelsa, as supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) clashed with alleged thugs linked to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Bara Daniel, the PDP chairman for Brass LGA, suffered injuries to the head in the altercation.
According to reports, the dispute originated from a disagreement between APC and PDP supporters over the storage location for the election materials. The situation escalated into violence, resulting in Daniel’s injury.
Former council chairman Victor Isaiah, identified as an APC chieftain, was accused of leading the alleged APC thugs in the attack.
Isaiah, however, denied any involvement, asserting that he intervened to calm the situation provoked by Daniel’s allegedly derogatory statements towards APC supporters during the offloading process.
Military personnel intervened to restore order, bringing normalcy to the area. Expressing disapproval of the assault, Brass LGA Chairman Alabo Hanson Karika called on security forces to remain vigilant to prevent further acts of violence.
