The family of Christian Onwubiko Anagor from Ubaruisionye Nando community in Anambra East, Anambra State, has sought justice for their son’s alleged murder.
Quest Times reports that in a petition addressed to Chief Judge Onochie Anyachelu, which was made available to journalists on Tuesday, the family, represented by Kenneth Anagor, expressed concerns about the flawed investigation that led to the release of nine suspects arrested in connection with the incident.
The family has contended that Christian Anagor was killed on September 19, 2021, at Ubaruisionye village, Nando, without provocation.
They asserted that the suspects whose identities were withheld, were freed by the police based on an incomplete investigation report.
Titled “Re: Investigation into the murder of Christian Onwubiko Anagor: We demand further and fuller investigation as the information report is faulty and created to free the culprits. We do hereby plead with you, Sir, that the accused persons who actively participated in the killing and murder of Christian Onwubiko Anagor on the 19th day of September 2021 are yet to be arrested nor charged to court in Otuocha High Court OT/33C/2022.
“The matter has been charged to the High Court of Otuocha Judicial Division Vide suit No, OT/33C/2022.
“We are pleading, Sir, that you command your personnel who are incorruptible to undertake this task as all efforts before now usually fell on deaf ears as these murderers have a huge financial chest to bribe and make them to compromise. We want thorough investigation into the matter to enable the prosecution to conclude the matter and prosecute the culprits, the family’s petition stated.
Copies of the petition were also forwarded to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and Anambra State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Sylvia Ifemeje.
