The Lagos State Police Command is currently examining a potential kidnapping incident that took place on Monday, January 1, in the Victoria Island area.
According to Benjamin Hundeyin, the State Police Public Relations Officer, the case involves a yet-to-be-identified adult female.
Quest Times gathered that the alert was initially raised by a social media user, Bishop Khale, through a video posted on the X (formerly Twitter) platform on the same day.
Khale claimed that the woman was seen struggling to exit a black Pathfinder on Ahmadu Bello Way.
Hundeyin stated, “There is no indication that there was an abduction but we are looking into the incident. No one had also come forward to report any case of kidnap to the police.”
Khale, in his post, provided details about the driver’s face and the vehicle’s number plate, recounting how he followed the vehicle, while attempting to alert other motorists who, unfortunately, disregarded his warnings.
The concerned citizen narrated, “Happening now on New Year’s Day. A lady was struggling to get out of this Black Pathfinder on Ahmadu Bello Way, Lagos. I believe she’s been kidnapped. I got the face of the driver and the plates,” he wrote. “For the record: I raised the alarm. Called on area boys, but most of them hesitated.”
The post also detailed Khale’s efforts to flag down passing cars and seek assistance, ultimately following the vehicle around Victoria Island.
Despite his attempts to draw attention to the situation, the alleged kidnappers drove back towards the Third Mainland Bridge.
This incident comes in the wake of recent kidnappings in Lagos, including the abduction of Ejike Conversion in the Ladipo Spare Parts Market and the owner of a hotel in the Ijegun area; these cases involved significant ransom payments.
