The Senate on Tuesday confirmed Lauretta Onochie, a former presidential aide, as the chairperson of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Reactions had trailed her nomination by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The upper legislative chamber confirmed her and 12 other nominees after Amos Bulus, Chairman of the Niger Delta committee, presented a report on Tuesday.
Recall that reactions trailed her rejection by the Senate when she was earlier nominated for the position of INEC commissioner.
In a report by the Senate Committee on INEC, Senator Kabir Gaya said her nomination breached federal character principles.
Gaya cited Section 14 (1) 3 of the Constitution, stating that somebody was already a Commissioner from her zone, and the law remains clear about that.
Reacting, some Nigerians on social media hailed Onochie’s rejection saying it was victory for democracy.
