The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) alongside civil societies have kicked off protests in Osun State. The gathering aims to address the pressing economic challenges plaguing Nigeria.
The NLC and Trade Union Congress (TUC) had issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Federal Government on February 8, demanding action on agreements made following the removal of fuel subsidy on October 2.
Despite the deadline, the Federal Government’s failure to implement the agreed-upon measures has fueled the protests. Organised labour, in a bid to amplify their voices, commenced mobilization efforts in Osun State a week prior to the nationwide demonstrations.
Speaking on the matter, a representative from the NLC highlighted the significance of these protests, emphasizing the need for tangible action to alleviate the hardships faced by Nigerians due to soaring living costs.
