The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri , who won a second term on Tuesday, has clarified that powerful people in Abuja were his real opponents in the controversial 2023 Adamawa state gubernatorial election and not the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Senator Aisha Binani.
The Quest Times learned that Fintiri said this while appearing as a guest on Channels Television’s political programme, Politics Today, on Tuesday night.
“I don’t think I have run against any woman in Adamawa state, I ran against enemies of democracy outside Adamawa state. I contested against the whole system, I contested against those who feel they own Nigeria from Abuja and they feel they can make Adamawa a scapegoat.”
Speaking further he said “Even in the election, I didn’t go into the election against the woman, I went into the election against INEC. The whole presiding officers that were conducting the election, all of them are APC members,” he alleged.
Fintiri, who asserted that his performance in the last four years stood him in good stead during the election, added that this had eased his victory over the alleged enemies of democracy in Abuja.
He has also threatened to prosecute everyone involved in the political debacle if their respective organisations fail to prosecute them
