The Police Service Commission (PSC), in response to the growing insecurity nationwide, has approved the appointment of new Commissioners for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ekiti, Benue, and other states.
The Head of Press and Public Relations in the Commission, Ikechukwu Ani, revealed this information in a statement on Wednesday. CP Beneth Igwe has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police for the FCT, having previously served as DCP Operations in the FCT Command.
Among the other recently appointed CPs are Peter Ukachi Opara for Osun State, Olughemiga Emmanuel Adesina for Benue State, Akinwale Kunle Adeniran for Ekiti State, and Mohammed Umar Abba for Adamawa State.
Additional appointments include Abaniwonda Surajudeen Olufemi for Delta State, Ademola Waheed Ayilara for Akwa Ibom State, David Iloyanomon for Taraba State, Abayomi Oladipo Peter for Ondo State, and Hassan Abdu Yabnet for Plateau State.
Dr. Solomon Arase, the PSC Chairman, cautioned the newly appointed CPs that the Commission expects them to provide effective and efficient leadership, with no room for excuses. The announcement comes amidst a surge in insecurity, highlighted by recent tragic incidents such as the killing of two monarchs in Ekiti State.
