All 109 Senators from the 10th Senate have collectively contributed their December salaries, totaling N109 million, to support the victims of a drone mishap in Tudun Biri, Igabi Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, made the heartwarming announcement during a visit to the Kaduna Government House on Sunday, leading a prominent Senate delegation. The delegation, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, was warmly received by Governor Uba Sani.
Senator Barau emphasized that the entire donation would be forwarded to the state governor for effective distribution among the affected individuals. Governor Uba Sani expressed gratitude for the Senators’ generosity, acknowledging the significant contribution from their December salaries.
The Senate delegation, featuring key figures such as Senate Leader Senator Micheal Opayemi Bamidele, Chief Whip Senator Ali Ndume, Minority Leader Senator Abba Moro, and others, also visited victims at Barau Dikko Hospital, demonstrating their solidarity.
Governor Uba Sani, while addressing the Senate delegation, also voiced concerns about the lack of coordination among Nigerian security agencies, alleging that they were not operating on the same page. Urging the Senate’s intervention, he requested justice for the Tudun-Biri community survivors who lost relatives in the tragic incident.
Responding to Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibrin’s remarks during the condolence visit, Governor Uba Sani reiterated the state’s commitment to supporting security agencies. He urged a swift and thorough investigation by the Army into the drone mishap, aiming to hold responsible parties accountable and prevent future incidents.
Governor Sani once again advocated for the establishment of a state police force, believing it would complement the existing security framework and contribute to preventing similar occurrences across the nation.
