In a firm call for justice, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has added his voice to the demand for accountability in the aftermath of the mistaken army airstrike in Tudun Biri village, Igabi Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
During the 25th anniversary celebration of the 11th Emir of Jama’a, Alhaji Muhammad Isa Muhammad, the Sultan expressed his commitment to pursuing justice on behalf of the victims, vowing to persist until it is achieved.
The event also served as an opportunity for unity among the people of Southern Kaduna, with attendees emphasizing the importance of coming together for the sake of peace in the region.
The tragic airstrike claimed the lives of 85 individuals, leaving numerous others injured. Following the incident, the Nigerian Army issued an apology, assuring the public that steps would be taken to prevent a recurrence.
During a visit to Kaduna, Vice President Kashim Shettima reiterated the Federal Government’s determination to thoroughly investigate the accidental bombing and promised consequences for those found responsible. He assured support for the victims and their families, emphasizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive to initiate the Pullako Initiative in Kaduna State.
This comprehensive initiative includes the rebuilding of Tudun Biri village, featuring houses, clinics, schools, veterinary facilities, empowerment initiatives, and solar energy projects, aiming to compensate for the devastation caused by the drone misfire.
