Manchester United are close to signing Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana for around £50m.
The 27-year-old player from Cameroon will take over the position of long-serving goalkeeper David de Gea, who left the club last month after being there for 12 seasons.
After a recent meeting between Manchester United and Onana’s representatives, they have agreed to a five-year contract with the option to extend it for another year. However, the negotiations between the clubs are not yet finalized. Nonetheless, it appears highly likely that Onana will complete the transfer before United’s tour of the United States, which is scheduled for later this week.

Manager Erik ten Hag is familiar with Onana from their time together at Ajax, and he believes that the goalkeeper can fulfill the goalkeeping needs that have been desired since his arrival at the club just over a year ago.
Onana had spent seven and a half years at Ajax before moving to Inter in July 2022. During his time at Inter, he kept eight clean sheets in 24 Serie A games, helping the team finish in third place. He also managed to keep eight clean sheets in 13 matches in the Champions League last season, which was the most among all goalkeepers in the competition.
Onana played against Manchester City in the Champions League final in June, where Inter lost 1-0.
Upon joining Manchester United, Onana will become their second signing of the summer, following the arrival of midfielder Mason Mount from Chelsea for an initial fee of £55m.
