The National Secretary of All Progressives Congress, Senator Iyiola Omisore has been officially replaced with the Deputy National Secretary of the party, Festus Fuanter.
Fuanter, who hails from Plateau State, officially assumes his new position as the acting national secretary on Monday.
The announcement was made by the new Acting National Chairman, Senator Abubakar Kyari, shortly after the crucial meeting of the National Working Committee held at the party secretariat on Monday.

1. He was elected Osun deputy governor to Chief Bisi Akande, a key ally of President Bola Tinubu in 1999 under the defunct Alliance for Democracy (AD).
2. In 2003, Omisore emerged as Chairman of Senate Committee of Appropriation after his resounding victory at the Osun East Senatorial District election. He also served in other important Senate committees including Federal Character and Inter-governmental Affairs, Navy , Communications, UND/PINASS Support Implementation Committee.
3. Thirteen months after joining the All Progressives Congress officially, Senator Omisore was elected as the National Secretary of the party. He emerged by consensus at the 2022 national convention of the party alongside 76 others.
4. He obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Infrastructure Finance & Public-Private Partnership from the International School of Management, Paris, France. In addition to this, he is a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Building Service Engineers, Association of Cost Engineers, Nigeria Institute of Mechanical Engineers and Nigerian Society of Engineers.
5. Omisore was one of those accused of conspiracy in the murder of Chief Bola Ige, former Attorney-General of the Federation in 2001. He and other was acquitted from all charges by the courts.
6. In 2016, Omisore was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for allegedly collecting N1.3billion from that then former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki. He was later released by the EFCC.
7. Omisore is believed to be instrumental to the emergence of Gboyega Oyetola as Osun State Governor during the gubernatorial election in 2018. This was after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared the September 22, 2018 governorship election inconclusive on the ground that the 353 votes margin between Ademola Adeleke and Oyetola was lower than the number of cancelled votes (3,498) in seven polling units, which fell in Omisore’s stronghold.
