Nigerian singer Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, is expected to appear in court on October 30 in order to face 11-count charges bordering on conspiracy and credit card fraud.
QUEST TIMES learned that Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, issued a production warrant against Naira Marley on Friday after his lawyer, Olalekan Ojo, informed the court that he was unavoidably absent from court due to his detention by the police for interrogation in respect of the murder of another singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is prosecuting Naira Marley on the fraud charges.

The EFCC in a statement issued on Friday, said Naira Marley’s lawyer had prayed for an adjournment of the trial, but the prosecution counsel, Bilkisu Buhari, had prayed the court to issue a production warrant against the defendant to ensure his presence in court on the next adjourned date.
Also, Justice Oweibo granted the prayers of the prosecution counsel, while issuing a production warrant against Naira Marley. He then adjourned the matter till October 30, 2023, for continuation of trial.
Recall that Naira Marley is currently in the custody of the Lagos State Police Command over his alleged role in the circumstances surrounding the death of Mohbad.
