Nigeria has once again been plunged into darkness due to a collapse in the national grid system, which is operated by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) from Osogbo in Osun State.
Quest Times has gathered that in the early hours of today, the grid’s capacity plummeted to a mere 273 megawatts of electricity, originating from only two out of the over 27 electricity generation sources.
This power outage occurred shortly after TCN celebrated what many consider a questionable 400 days of grid stability. Several Distribution Companies confirmed to Quest Times that the grid went down at 00:41 AM, resulting in the disruption of most of their feeders.

As of 4:00 a.m. on Thursday, only five generating plants were contributing to the grid. Afam VI generated 0.70MW, Dadinkowa produced 0.00MW, Ibom Power contributed 32.90MW, Jebba added 240MW, and Olorunsogo had zero generation.
At around 1:00 a.m. midnight, the total power on the national grid was a mere 35MW, indicating a complete collapse of the power supply across the country. Subsequently, the grid’s capacity dipped to 193MW at approximately 3:00 a.m. before recovering to 273MW at the time of this report.
The TCN has yet to respond to inquiries from our correspondent regarding this development.
