In a surprising turn of events, the Rivers State Attorney General, Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor (SAN), has tendered his resignation.
QUEST TIMES reports that the resignation was conveyed on Thursday through a letter titled “NOTICE OF RESIGNATION AS HONOURABLE ATTORNEY-GENERAL AND COMMISSIONER FOR JUSTICE, RIVERS STATE,” sent to the governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, via the Secretary to the State Government.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve in the administration, Adangor emphasized that his decision to step down is solely based on personal principles.
He thanked the governor for the privilege while conveying his family’s appreciation for the support extended during his tenure.
In the letter, Adangor stated, “I hereby give Your Excellency Notice of my resignation as the Honourable Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Rivers State with effect from the date of this letter. For the avoidance of doubt, my resignation from the said office is based purely on personal principles.”
He concluded by extending his best wishes for a successful tenure to Governor Fubara, stating, “I wish Your Excellency a successful tenure. Please accept the assurances of my highest regards always.”
On a related note, Hon Tonye Adoki, a member of the Rivers House of Assembly, has denied rumors of his return to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). This comes amid speculations following the recent political developments in the state.
