Former Senate President Bukola Saraki is set to assume the pivotal role of chairman for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Reconciliation Committee, subject to final confirmation. This significant decision arose from resolutions made during the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, pending any unforeseen changes.
The PDP NEC, in its recent gathering, took proactive steps to address internal strife by resolving to establish a Committee dedicated to reconciling aggrieved members.
In another development stemming from the NEC meeting, indications have surfaced that Emmanuel Agbo, former deputy national secretary of the party, is being considered to take over from CID Maduabum as the director-general of the PDP Governors’ Forum.
Agbo’s potential appointment is viewed as a strategic maneuver to address concerns raised by the North Central region regarding equitable representation in the party’s leadership structure.
According to insights from Daily Sun, Agbo’s selection aims to assuage tensions and foster inclusivity within the party, particularly in regions advocating for greater involvement in decision-making processes.
Notably, Agbo and five other contenders had expressed interest in succeeding Iyorchia Ayu as the party’s national chairman. However, discussions regarding Ayu’s successor have been postponed until August, allowing for thorough deliberation and consideration of all stakeholders’ viewpoints.
