The Nigerian Senate has completed the screening process for the 48 ministerial nominees submitted by President Bola Tinubu. However, the confirmation was granted to 45 of the nominees, while three others faced a setback in their confirmation process.
Those who were not confirmed include the immediate past Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, along with Stella Okotete and Abubakar Sani Danladi. The primary reason for their non-confirmation is the pending receipt of their security clearance, as stated by the Senate.
Nasir El-Rufai, renowned for his previous role as Governor of Kaduna State, had his confirmation withheld, causing speculation and discussions among political circles and the public alike. While awaiting further security clearance, he and the other two nominees, Stella Okotete and Abubakar Sani Danladi, will have to undergo additional scrutiny before their ministerial appointments are confirmed.
The Senate session concluded and adjourned plenary, with a scheduled resumption at 8:30 PM.
