Following the deleting of a tweet posted on his official Twitter handle (@atiku) condemning the brutal murder of Miss Deborah Samuel by irate Muslim youth, serial presidential aspirant Atiku Abubakar has come under fire from a large section of Nigerians on social media.
Recall that Miss Samuel, a 200-level student of Home Economics at the Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto, was stoned and then burned to death on Thursday, May 12, 2022 in Bauchi over allegations of blasphemy.
The despicable action evoked strong criticism from Nigerians across religious divides, including the spiritual leader of Muslims in Nigeria, the Sultan of Sokoto, who condemned the action and called for calm.

Atiku in a tweet posted by 10.20 pm on Thursday said ” There can be no justification for such gruesome murder. Deborah Yakubu was murdered, and all those behind her death must be brought to justice. My condolence to her family and friends.”

@Morris_Monye Atiku was not really sympathetic. Tried to appease the South, saw reaction from the North, deleted He feels it’s better not to offend the North than offend the South because Southerners are slaves and will vote for him anyways. Our Politicians are the wickedest people on earth.
@OgbeniDipo Such a good tweet from Atiku Abubakar condemning the brutal murder of Deborah Yakubu. It’s really embarrassing it was deleted, especially after his silence about the Pantami saga.
@OyinKitana Atiku the UNIFIER don delete post of him condemning the killing of Deborah on Facebook because they threaten baba and tell him say he fuuk up and them no go vote for him.
@SONOFGOD019 @atiku where is your post on Deborah’s death? You deleted it because you support your Northern brothers abi ? You cannot say the truth because of your political ambition. Anyway you have already lost the presidential election. Mark my word
@Emveepee1 Lol.. So, you guys are surprised @atiku did that? They’re the architect of the dysfunctional North and those Malams and the boys are instrument that keeps them relevant. To show he has the same ideology, that post was made in Hausa.
@Tope_soft Atiku deleting that tweet is a big problem. It only means the vast majority of the Northern population supports the kind of madness that happened yesterday and their political leaders who have legitimized it over the years also know that!
@trending_medic Funnily enough, I don’t think Atiku sanctioned that tweet in the first place. His plan was probably to ignore the matter totally.
