The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday advised Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the recently concluded elections to go to the Supreme Court if he feels compelled that the Chicago State University’s certificate submitted by President Bola Tinubu to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is forged.
Atiku is asking the Supreme Court to overturn Tinubu’s election after the Presidential Election Tribunal dismissed his petition.
As part of his move to overturn the result, he successfully filed a case in the US and his legal team received the academic records of the President which has been the subject of controversy.
Speaking on the issue, Duro Meseko, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC while featuring as a guest on Arise TV’s programme ‘The Morning Show’ monitored by QUEST TIMES said the controversy over the authenticity of Tinubu’s certificate is a yo-yo dance that is unnecessary.
“You will recall that Weisberg, that is the registrar of the institution said that the diploma certificate was just a ceremonial document and that what matters is the transcript issued by the institution to students. And of course, he (Tinubu) has the transcript. So, what are we talking about?”/
“My simple take on where he got the certificate is, that is why we have the courts to preside over issues. The Supreme Court is there, you take your case there and go and prove it. If you do feel that you are very sure that what you have discovered is the truth, then let’s take it to the court”.
“They have the right to ventilate their anger at the right places and the Supreme Court is one of them. We do not need all these yo-yo dance taking place up and down Nigeria”.
