The November 11th campaign for Governorship Election has been suspended by the All Progressives Congress (APC), as a mark of respect for Ms Khadijat Yahaya, a member of the party who died as a result of an attack by suspected thugs.
The spokesperson for the state Campaign Council, Mr Kingsley Fanwo, disclosed this in a statement in Lokoja.
It was gathered that Khadijat allegedly lost her life after a clash between supporters of Social Democratic Party (SDP) and those of the APC in Kotonkarfe on Sept. 29.
However, the family of the deceased was visited by the state APC governorship candidate, Alhaji Usman Ododo in Kotonkarfe on Tuesday to sympathise with them over her demise.
Ododo expressed shock over her demise and prayed to God for the repose of her soul.
The governorship candidate was thanked by Malam Saliu Akawu, for his visit.
Furthermore, Akawu said the conduct of Ododo showed that he was a compassionate leader who would always identify with his people.
Ododo said that Khadijat was a very kind and peace-loving person whose life was cut short by evil men.
Afterwards, Ododo paid a visit to the Palace of the Ohimege of Kotonkarfe, Alhaji Abdulrazak Koto, where he further expressed his sadness over the death of Khadijat.
Alhaji Abdulrazak described her as a woman of peace who was keen on seeing growth and progress in Kotonkarfe, promising to get justice for the deceased family.
