The All Progressives Congress (APC) has given reasons for the postponement of the Tinubu/Shettima presidential rally initially scheduled for Tuesday, 17 January, 2023, in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
According to a statement signed by the Local Organizing Committee Chairman, Saadu Salahu, on Monday, the postponement is to allow President Muhammadu Buhari lead the campaign.
The statement reads; “We regret to announce the postponement of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu/Shetima APC presidential campaign rally scheduled to hold in Ilorin tomorrow Tuesday, 17 January, 2023.
“The President is scheduled for an International engagement outside the country this week, beginning tomorrow but insists he would like to personally lead the APC Presidential rally in Kwara State.
“We deeply regret any inconveniences the postponement might have caused our guests and all APC stakeholders.”
Reacting to Salahu’s statement, the secretary of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) of the APC, James Faleke, said the rally will hold as scheduled.
He said, “I hereby confirm that the APC Presidential Campaign rally slated for 17/1/23 will hold as scheduled. Please be advised accordingly.”
