The Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Prof Kaletapwa Farauta, disclosed that the looters who attacked warehouses in the state used a unique method to gain entry.
Rather than breaking the doors, they drilled holes in the warehouse walls. The looting incidents occurred at two warehouses in Yola, the state capital, and another in Numan Local Government Area, including the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) warehouse.
She made the revelation during an interview on Channels TV.
She said, “Two warehouses were attacked in Yola, the state capital, while one was attacked in Numan Local Government Area.”
“The NEMA stores and state government warehouse attacked in Yola are within the same axis. They drilled holes in the wall of the warehouses, they didn’t break the doors.”

Contrary to claims that hunger drove the looters, the deputy governor dismissed such justifications. While acknowledging the people’s hardships, she condemned the destructive actions, emphasizing the need to seek positive solutions. The damaged warehouses will now require funds for repair.
“The government is very mindful of the fact that our people are hungry and our people are suffering. We accept that, but we condemn what has happened because that will not take us forward.
“Those stores and warehouses that have been destroyed, the government is still going to use funds now to repair them. And our youth can channel their energies into positive things instead of doing what they did today,” Prof Farauta said.
Following the looting incidents, Governor Umaru Fintiri promptly imposed a 24-hour curfew in the state due to the dangerous activities of hoodlums, who were attacking people and businesses across the state capital.
During the curfew period, only individuals on essential duties with valid identification will be allowed to move around.
