Muyiwa Awoniyi, the manager of the talented Nigerian singer Tems, has revealed how the Grammy award winner led a worship session in a Ugandan prison.
He narrated the incident during his appearance on the latest episode of the Menisms podcast.
According to Awoniyi, Tems sang worship songs and invited the inmates to join in while they were in their cell.
He said; “Entering prison, as a woman, Tems, they [prison warders] took her to the female section. I was just worried about her. I was not with her. I was just wondering what the hell is going on [with her?].
“I will come to find out that Tems conducted praise and worship in a whole prison cell. Everybody was singing with her. She took over the whole prison.”
The Quest Times recalls that Tems, fellow Nigerian singer Omah Lay and other team members were both arrested by the police in Uganda in 2020 for violating COVID-19 regulations.
