A notorious bandit leader, Dogo Gide, infamous for terrorizing the North West region, has met his demise in a clash with Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) troops of the Nigerian Army.
Former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, broke the news on social media, declaring, “Woke up to the good news that Dogo Gide has finally kicked the bucket. The notorious bandit leader died from gunshot wounds sustained during a confrontation with Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) forces.”
Gide, recognized as one of Nigeria’s most wanted bandits, has been linked to numerous kidnappings and killings, leading to the displacement of many in the North. His operational base reportedly shifted among states in the North West, including Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Katsina.
Previously, on October 30, 2023, Gide narrowly escaped capture after a fierce battle with Nigerian troops in Zamfara State. Despite severe injuries, he managed to evade capture during the military operation targeting his strongholds in Dansadau, Mai Tukunya, and Babban Doka villages.
A military source involved in the recent operation revealed, “He was hit in various parts of his body. Bleeding profusely, he escaped by the skin of his teeth. Apparently, he was not expecting the Nigerian Army in his fortress. But we are the formidable Nigerian Army, and we can go anywhere we want.”
During the encounter, troops raided Gide’s residence, uncovering a tailoring factory used for making military uniforms, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), a mini pharmacy suspected to treat wounded terrorists, as well as operational motorcycles and sewing machines. These findings were promptly destroyed by Special Forces personnel.
