Nollywood veteran Shan George is all smiles again after successfully recovering the ₦3.6 million looted from her bank account.
In an emotional revelation on May 8, 2024, she took to her Instagram handle to express heartfelt gratitude to both her bank and the individuals who rallied behind her during this trying time.
George narrated the ordeal during a live session, shedding light on how the cybercriminals targeted her while she was innocently attempting to secure her bank statement for a visa application.
The actress, visibly shaken by the experience, detailed how she fell victim to an email scam, believing it to be a legitimate communication from Zenith Bank.
She said, “I had tweeted to attract the attention of the bank or the people in charge. I was asking my bank how many days it would take to get the statement so I tagged them. So this person who targeted me sent me an email and I responded to the mail. So the mail was saying that I could apply for it online on the Zenith website to have it sent to my email. So I’m telling you that the way they took the money away, like alert after alert after alert.”
The fraudster’s strategy was cunningly simple: convincing George to apply for her statement online via the Zenith Bank website, ultimately leading to the draining of her account through a series of unauthorized transactions.
The actress, known for her resilience both on and off the screen, didn’t hesitate to raise the alarm on social media immediately after discovering the theft.
Her heartfelt plea for assistance garnered widespread attention, prompting swift action.
