The Federal High Court in Kano has ruled that the Kano Public Compliant and Anti-Corruption Commission does not possess the authority to probe Ganduje over the infamous dollar bribery video.
Presiding over the case, Justice Abdullahi Liman emphasized that the alleged offence falls under federal jurisdiction and can thus only be prosecuted by the Attorney General of the Federation and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
He explicitly stated that the state anti-graft agency lacks the mandate to investigate Ganduje in this matter.
In response to the judgment, Usman Fari, the legal representative of the anti-corruption agency, expressed dissatisfaction and announced their intention to challenge the ruling in the Court of Appeal.
Fari reiterated the agency’s commitment to pursuing justice in the face of legal setbacks.
